Frequently Asked Questions

1: ABOUT DOZAN WORLD

Dozan World is a global publisher and platform dedicated to Arabic, Middle Eastern, and choral sheet music. Founded in 2020, it evolved from the Dozan wa Awtar Music Establishment (Jordan, 2002) into a worldwide resource for musicians, educators, and choirs. Its mission is to preserve the folkloric musical heritage of the Levant region while nurturing new compositions and arrangements for performers across the globe.

Dozan World was founded by Shireen Abu Khader, a Palestinian Jordanian Canadian artist, composer, and educator based in Toronto, Canada. Shireen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Oberlin College Conservatory (1994), a master's degree in Choral Music from the University of Southern California (1998), and a PhD in Music Education from the University of Toronto (2019). She has directed choirs internationally, won gold medals at the Sochi World Choir Games, and is widely recognized as a leading voice in Middle Eastern choral music.

Dozan World is one of the very few publishers focused exclusively on Arabic and Middle Eastern sheet music. Unlike general music publishers, we specialize in authentic maqam-based compositions, folkloric traditions of the Levant, sacred Byzantine and Syriac hymns, and secular choral works from the region. Our catalog bridges tradition and innovation, serving both performers who seek authenticity and modern musicians exploring new sounds. We also actively support composers in publishing their original works.

Yes. Many of our instrumental works are specifically arranged for Western instruments, including piano, violin, cello, clarinet, flute, and trumpet. The music is adapted to incorporate Arabic scales (maqamat) and Middle Eastern musical traditions using standard Western notation—so classically trained musicians can read and perform it without needing to learn a completely new notation system.

Yes. Our dedicated Young Voices collection is crafted especially for children's choirs and growing talents.
